Kefir Grains - now availableLive kefir grains (about 1/2 cup), enough to make one quart of kefir. Kefir is extremely easy to make and the grains continue to grow. Our culture is from the Herbalist Julie Charette Nunn and has been grown at our farm in fresh, organic raw goat milk. All of the milk products have been washed off prior to shipping. Kefir is a cultured milk drink that has been used for thousands of years. It is made by adding kefir grains to fresh milk and then letting it set at room temperature for 24 hours - strain out the grains and it's completed. It has a light, bubbly sparkle and is often referred to as the "champagne of milk." Traditionally it is made with live grains, and its unique flavor comes from the combination of bacterial acidification (creating a wonderful probiotic supplement for intestinal and immune health) and alcohol produced by yeast during the fermentation process. With proper care the grains continue to grow and sustain themselves. $15 you pick up from our farm on Whidbey Island, or we can mail for an additional $5 – we ship Monday through Wednesday USPS Priority Mail (we don’t want them sitting at the post office over the weekend). Directions included.
